Valeria* is a mother with an open case with the Department of Child Safety (DCS). Her struggles with addiction affected her ability to care for herself and her children. Valeria’s case had seen some progress over the years, but setbacks often followed. Early in the year, her case was assigned to an ABCS parent aide. The parent aide began praying for Valeria and asking God to meet her right where she was.

This time, something was different. Valeria fully embraced her role as a mother with ambition and new purpose. She took advantage of every opportunity and support available, especially the guidance of a Parent Educator during supervised visits. Valeria was eager to learn and quick to apply what she was taught. Slowly but surely, she grew into a more confident, loving and attentive mother.

Through dedication, love for her children and God’s grace, Valeria reached a significant milestone. She earned unsupervised visit and was able to bring her children home. Filled with gratitude, she messaged her parent aide, thanking her for believing in her. The parent aide shared, “This is all God’s work. I pray for all my families—for God’s best in their lives.
