Arizona Gives Day is April 6! Arizona Baptist Children’s Services & Family Ministries (ABCS) is participating again this year. AZ Gives Day is an annual statewide event that exists to raise awareness about local nonprofits and inspire generosity to give back to your community.  

You can help provide hope and care to hurting children and families in communities across the state by giving a gift to ABCS. When you donate to ABCS or to any of our seven Christ-centered ministries, your gift qualifies for the Foster Care Charitable Tax Credit.  

Jessie’s Story

Providing Hope 2-Go helps care for people like Jessie. While recovering from her 24th surgery, Jessie lost her job. During the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, she wondered how she was going to make ends meet. One day while driving by the Rio Vista Center, a ministry of ABCS, she saw people waiting in a line and decided to investigate. After learning she could receive free food boxes, she said to herself, “Thank you Lord, this is just what I need”. During one of her center visits, Pursue Life Adult Ministry (PLM) staff noticed how difficult it was for Jessie to walk and to stand in the line. As Jessie was leaving, the staff member met her and her friend at the car to ask if she would like to have her food boxes delivered. Of course, she said yes. During one home delivery, Jessie shared that she has an arterial vein disease which resulted in the amputation of her lower leg and the many surgeries that followed. Jessie lights up like sunshine as she gives praise to the Lord for His provision and care during these uncertain times. She knows that He is looking after her every day.

Hope 2-Go

Last year was unexpected. Thanks to God’s faithfulness, the generosity of supporters and the time and talents of volunteers, ABCS didn’t just get through last year. Together, we adapted to provide hope and care across Arizona in new ways to better serve our community during the pandemic. ABCS remained open to care for our clients and people in need, with some modifications. In addition, ABCS was able to provide something new, Hope 2-Go!  

What is Hope 2-Go? Hope 2-Go is Pursue Life Adult Ministry volunteers delivering food boxes to immunocompromised older adults to ensure they are cared for while staying safe. It is church partners creating space on their campus for mobile food distributions to support people in need in their neighborhood. Hope 2-Go is Christmas presents for New Life Transitional Program clients hand delivered by a motorcycle club.
