Devotion written by Andre Jennings, IT Specialist
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. – Colossians 3:12-14
These past months have been really trying for my family. It seems at every turn there is another financial issue, sickness, a behavioral issue with the children, or even extended family members with problems. It is times like this where it is easy to lose sight of God’s love for us and we forget to give Him our troubles and focus on our calling, and to love one another. Find specific moments throughout your day to pray and give your worries to Him, so you can focus on showing His love. The less I focus on my problems and have faith to let Him take care of it, the more my eyes and heart are open to family, friends and strangers, who need love. I try to ask God daily, to show compassion to those who are hurting, to keep me humble, and have patience with my children and others, to forgive those who wrong me and to make sure His love is what shows through all my actions.
Remember we are ALL “dearly loved” by an amazing God and Father! Take comfort in knowing how special you are to Him and how much He cares for you!
