ABCS Weekly Devotional: Let the Little Children Come to Christ

We’ve asked a few different people to tell us about their “why” in their ministry area, today we hear about Arms of Love Foster Care from Jacklyn Marin, Assistant Director – Maricopa County

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it”. – Luke 18:16

One of my favorite characteristics about God our Father is that He has a special place in His heart for little children, for the orphan, for the most vulnerable in society. We see that truth evidently in Jesus’ tender words to his disciples to “Let the little children come to me.” In our daily work in Arms of Love Foster Care, we must ask, are we letting the little children come to Jesus by providing safe, loving, Christ-centered homes, or are we hindering them? Let us not hinder children who have only known pain, suffering, abuse and neglect from coming to the healing hands of Jesus Christ. My “why” and my prayer is that every day we are letting the little children come to Him, and that we and our foster families are also coming to Him like little children.
