The Prayer
New Life Pregnancy Center (NLPC) offers free ultrasounds at several locations across the state. In order to provide this service, it takes donors who provide the funds for the ultrasound machine and its accessories, the space for a private room and a sonographer who wants to volunteer their time. Many people and details are involved in making it possible. Many mothers come to the pregnancy center uncertain about what to do after learning they are pregnant. The opportunity to see their unborn baby can provide perspective that nothing else can as they plan for their future. As a ministry that wholeheartedly believes in the sanctity of human life at all stages, it is a blessing to have reliable, functional equipment to show mothers the life that is growing in their womb.
This year, God answered our prayers. The pregnancy center team applied for a grant through the Knights of Columbus; an organization committed to helping mothers and fathers choose life by providing access to ultrasound technology. A few months later, we received the exciting news—we had been awarded the grant to purchase a new ultrasound machine for our Tucson location.
God Wasn’t Finished
Not long after, NLPC received a generous $30,000 donation to purchase another ultrasound machine. ABCS’ seven ministries work closely together, so it was no surprise that God used Sheila*, a dedicated volunteer from Rio Vista Center, one of ABCS’ community resource centers, to help bring about this second blessing.
While talking with a woman named Dion* at her church, Sheila learned that Dion was fighting stage four cancer. During their conversation, Dion shared her desire to leave a legacy while she was still alive. She told Sheila that, knowing her days were limited, she had decided to donate an ultrasound machine to help save the lives of unborn babies. As Sheila told her about New Life Pregnancy Center and the broader ministry of ABCS, Dion was overjoyed to find a mission that aligned with her heart. We are grateful for Dion and her heart for mothers and the unborn. *Names changed
The Old Made New
Dion’s generous contribution allowed us to purchase a new ultrasound machine for our Phoenix pregnancy center location to serve women in the Central region. The previous machine from Phoenix was then moved to our pregnancy center in Show Low, a meaningful development, as we had never been able to offer ultrasounds in that region. Thanks to Dion, an entire community now has access to this vital, life-affirming service.
